Simon Duffy has always had music in his life. Born into a family of musicians, what followed was inevitable. By the time he was 14 he was already experimenting with samplers and playing in local bands.  At 17 Simon took an engineering apprenticeship at Unit 3 Studios in London.  Being forced into the Chief Engineers position after 6 months Simon took the studio by the scruff of its neck and catapulted it into the forefront of London production by installing the latest programming gear and attracting some of the biggest innovators of the day including Nelly Hooper, Soul To Soul, Judge Jules and Joey Negro.

Going freelance 9 months later, Simon was soon heavily in demand as one of the finest engineer/programmers of the time attracting everyone from Seal and David Bowie to Adamski and The Shamen.  During that time Simon met Italian Dance Producers ‘Souled Out’ and went to live in Italy to work with them for artists such as Karen Ramirez, Solomon Burke , Massive Attack, Sugar Ray, and a long and fruitful collaboration co writing and mixing for Planet Funk.

Simon has always been in-demand as a remixer but also provided combinations of production and mixing expertise to trailblazing Anglo acts such as Leftfield, New Order, Deep Dish, Craig Armstrong, Monica and Missy Elliott, Kosheen and Dirty Vegas.

Simon returned to the UK permanently and following a brief settling-in period took up production and remixing jobs for Mika, Ali Love, Amy Winehouse, New Young Pony Club, and Meck. He’s also been very busy in partnership with Dino Lenny, producing his forthcoming album and cowriting a string of dancefloor hits. A song written by Dino which Simon produced for Meck is now being used by Madonna on her Sticky and Sweet tour. He’s just finished a Sugababes remix as one half of “The Hooks”, and is putting the finishing touches to an album he has written with Jon Kahuna of FC Kahuna fame. They think they’ll call themselves “Disco Weirdos” but they’re not sure yet.

Simon is currently producing Dirty Vegas’ new album.
